Whenever I read about Spotify, the same critique occurs to me: The company's approach to "discovery" — finding new stuff to listen to — seems to have little to do with the social aspects of listening to music, and the way cliques and subcultures used to form around music, how someone's tastes could seem to give you an accurate sense of whether you would like them or not.
